Chavadi Utsav ki Parampara aur Sai Baba ki Palki
The tradition of the weekly Palki (palanquin) procession is one of the most colorful, joyful, and musical celebrations in the world of Sai devotion. This beautiful custom started way back in Shirdi when the village experienced heavy rainy seasons. Because the old Dwarkamai mosque had a leaking roof, the water would collect on the mud floors. To ensure Baba could rest comfortably, his loving bhakts would gently force him to move to a nearby clean building called the Chavadi every alternate night. This regular night walk soon turned into a grand, royal parade.
The Joyful Atmosphere of the Palki Procession
In the old days, every Thursday evening, the lanes of Shirdi would light up with oil lamps and beautiful decorations. Devotees would gently place Baba on a beautifully decorated wooden carriage, singing cheerful bhajans, playing cymbals, dancing with joy, and scattering sweet pink gulal into the fresh night air. It was a time when the master and his children celebrated their deep bond through music and dance. This tradition reminds us that path of devotion should not be sad or boring; it should be celebrated with open hearts and pure happiness.
Thursday Night Celebrations at Bisalpur Dham
Following this beautiful Shirdi heritage, Shrishirdisaisharnamdham in Bisalpur hosts a very special evening every single Thursday. The entire main prayer hall is decorated beautifully with seasonal fresh flowers, and we hold an intense, music-filled Bhajan Sandhya after the sunset prayers.
Bringing Your Family to the Weekly Festivity
